Guard petals
are subjective; don't be fooled by what you may have been told that you must peel roses
to death (literally!) Guard petals not only protect the rose, but sometimes add character.
They can change the look completely. In fact, most roses look better with them left on.
Foliage is part of the natural beauty of the rose and critical to the hydration process. Always remove any foliage that will be below the water level, but anything you can leave - do! Why add greens to an arrangement or bouquet when nature has done it for you?
